Encaustic on a Railroad tie
I created this piece for the Recycle Art Festival at the Amarillo Museum of Art. I had an old railroad tie laying around so I had it cut down to a workable size. I loved this section of the railroad tie because of the hole that was located at the bottom of the piece, as well as the nail with the number 26 stamped in it, which stands for the date (1926). I painted many layers of Encaustic wax over it to create the texture on the piece. This piece won first in the exhibit and also sold.
