A Strong Foundation

"A Strong Foundation" was selected to be in the permanent collection of the Northwest Texas Professional Building in Amarillo, TX. There were 220 works by 104 different artists and only 30 works were chosen. I feel very blessed to have one of the 30 works selected. Now a judge will choose 1st, 2nd, 3rd for prize money, so wish me luck!

3 Large Encaustics

These are 3 of my latest encaustic pieces. I am very happy with they way they turned out. I am also very proud of myself for setting a goal and reaching it. All three of these works were created in a larger format. I have never worked on panels this large before. Working large defiantly has its advantages and disadvantages. I really like the look of large work, but I have never felt comfortable actually working large. I created these pieces for a competition and they stipulated the piece had to be at least 24 x 36 up to 36 x 48. So I decided to enter this competition so that it would force me to paint big.

"In Time"

"In Time" was created as a landscape. I really love the colors in this piece and I want the viewer to feel at peace when they look at it. The flower shapes in the different sizes represent change and growth for me and "in time" both things happen. I frequently use circles in my work, which symbolizes many different things for me. Being whole, complete, imperfect, never ending, and for reproduction. So creating flowers out of circles just feels right to me.

"Stillness"

"Stillness" was also created in the landscape format. I am very pleased with this piece. The colors really work. I love the multiple panels as well as how the size changes between each panel. This pieces has so much texture you really can't help but to want to touch it. I really love these forest landscapes and the title "Stillness" is exactly how I feel when I am in the mountains surrounded by all the trees.

"A Strong Foundation"

"A Strong Foundation" also created as a landscape and in a different format. I feel having the base being a separate piece really gives it the stability of having "A Strong Foundation". The color in this piece really turned out amazing. I am very pleased with it. It truly makes me feel like I am standing in the middle of all these amazing trees.
